DESIGNER - WINEMAKER

Hi, I’m Payton.

I’ve always found joy in creating something out of nothing. I love the constant tweaking, refining, and improvement that is essential to the creative process. For years I honed this skill as a fashion designer, using quality materials and creative problem solving to make clothes that people integrated into their lives and wore year after year.

In 2020, I decided to try designing something new: wine. What I love about design and winemaking is that they each are the culmination of many small decisions. I believe that by even changing a small portion of the established process I can work towards a new definition of tradition. 

My background in design has influenced the way I think about making wine. As a designer, I guided the transformation of raw materials into a final consumer product under cost, material, and time constraints—something that winemaking also requires. I enjoy that both industries are about the interaction between art and the technical aspects of creation. My goal, no matter the industry, is always about creating a timeless, long lasting, and well built product.
